GIGI’S Pizzeria Fire

IT ISN’T LOCAL UNLESS IT’S YONKERS VOICE!!!

Where: 495 Odell Ave, Yonkers

YFD received a call at 12:30am about smoke coming out from the roof of GIGI’S Pizzeria located at the above address, they were at the scene within 3 to 4 minutes. Upon arrival the YFD broke the lock in order to gain access to the Pizzeria. Heavy smoke could be seen as soon as they open the door.
It seems like the fire started in a oven and flames were visible but it was quickly extinguished thanks to a quick and effective response by our YFD.
No heavy damage but the place will be shut down for the next few days.
The owner was called to the scene and I had an opportunity to speak with him. He was pretty upset due to this and also because he was not going to be able to deliver the Pizza’s to his clients tomorrow and they were counting on this.
Hopefully ” GIGI’S ” will be back in business by Monday and this will feel like a bad dream.
Lets congratulate our YFD for a quick and effective response, if it was not for this: GIGI’S would be a thing of the past.
